New technologies including IP Telephony don't just replace previous ones but allow much greater functionality, increased productivity, enhanced customer satisfaction and lower costs than prior technologies. Here are just a couple of ideas for you to ponder.

Your IP Telephone System supplies the following advantages:

* Seamless extension dialing between all your locations in your private network, or perhaps over the general public Internet, is pretty easy and a lot less costly than traditional means. All your offices might be "tied together" to do something as one large office no matter where in the world they may be located. This also provides advantage of eliminating long distance charges between locations.

* IP Telephony creates less expensive and greater functionality advantages from carrier services. With IP Telephony it is possible to connect your entire offices together on the own private network. Or you'll be able to use the "quasi-private" network of the carrier.

This means you employ one supplier to provide the voice trunks at each office. Your voice traffic between offices stays on the private network with the carrier. Your voice traffic never has got to travel through the general public internet.

If done properly you have the benefit of carrying your voice traffic on the same network that carries important computer data traffic between offices but through the supplier you have Quality of Service to present voice priority over data. This will also give you a more affordable than the traditional means of your totally private network connecting your offices.

* Easily and economically connecting work at home workers. Your work at home worker could be easily linked to your office phone system using a high speed connection such as DSL or cable Internet. Your worker needs a phone from work and connects it compared to that Internet connection. Or your worker utilizes a "soft phone" that's software on the computer in your own home that functions like a telephone.

That physical phone or soft phone, located anywhere on earth, has become a phone in your office phone system with all the individual settings that worker has on the phone on the job. Someone calls your workplace and the call automatically rings the telephone at your worker's home. The caller doesn't know where the person they're calling is located. This arrangement may also work for a tiny one, two, or three person branch office.

* Easily and economically connecting traveling workers. Imagine you're traveling and residing at a hotel having a high speed Internet connection. You have a "soft phone" on the laptop computer. You can use a headset in your laptop or possibly a handset that plugs into a USB port in your computer. The handset acts similar to the handset in your phone on the job. You can now receive making calls via your soft phone the same as you're at your office. Callers will ring by way of your soft phone.

You can be located anywhere on the planet and the person you call or calls you won't know where you stand. If you're gonna be away with an extended period of time, you may even want to have a regular office phone and set it up on your own Internet connection. This arrangement utilizes IP Telephony for your working environment combined with VOIP using the Internet. IP Telephony makes all this easily possible at a less expensive than traditional systems.

Home based and traveling workers also can go into your working environment, in reality any of your workplace locations, and simply "log in" to your phone system much like they log in to your computer system. Once logged in all of the their phone settings are automatically provided to the phone in which they join. This just wasn't easy or feasible to do economically before IP Telephony.

* Software upgrades tend to be easier and could be performed by you instead of make payment on telephone equipment vendor to complete them.

There are numerous more benefits to IP Telephony. This brief overview ought to be enough to peak your interest to continue your investigation. You don't need to produce a total swap from the current phone system. It is possible to gradually introduce an IP Telephone System to your organization and interface it to legacy systems.
